Clovis through the years

Welcome to the City of Clovis, as we celebrate 100 years as a community throughout 2007, we celebrate and honor our past. This year, Clovis will be celebrating 100 years.

On April 13, 1907 we became a community with the original town site being planted in Clovis. In 1908, Governor George Curry named Curry County where Clovis is currently located.

Clovis became a city thanks to the Santa Fe Railway, who wanted to locate where their railway mainline was being built—and Clovis became that site. Santa Fe Railway, which is called Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, still excels today.

Clovis, New Mexico, which is known as the “City On The Move” continues to grow and prosper with many restaurants, hotels and businesses locating in the City of Clovis.
